Anza-Borrego Desert: Smoketree Wash First Fork East

Rating *****
Length 4.1 mile (return) - 1 Hour, 55 minutes (return trip). Easy - Moderate past "Fork 2".
Elevation 900 - 1700 feet
Access One wash west from the exit to the Aroya salada camp ground. Park roadside.

A nice wash, with sand and gravel canyons.

Take the first wide wash on the right (west).
Follow the main sandy wash all the way, up to "Fork 2", keep left at this fork.
Up to this point the hike is really easy, now we are starting to climb, with some rocks and small boulders.

At the end of the wash, hike to the right, uphill. Over a saddle you should see sand below.
Hike towards it and find a way into the next wash.
Best to hike a bit uphill and hike into the rocky wash.

Hike downhill and the best is yet to come, the wash turns into a nice slot like canyon.
But the canyon stays easy to hike in.
