Anza-Borrego Desert: Arroyo Salado North Fork

Rating *****
Length 7.5 mile (return) - 3 Hour, 15 minutes (return trip). Easy.
Elevation 700 - 1300 feet
Access All cars, mile 36.7.

A typical wash in the Truckhaven area, sandstone and rough. Deep canyons, sometimes narrow, some slick rock and boulders.

Where the road crosses the wash, look for a path on the North side, or make your own.

This hike is easy, hike as many forks as you like.

Most of the forks narrow and one boulder is enough to block the canyon.
That happened to most of the forks to the east.

The west fork, the one that runs parallel to the highway for a while, has a small fall shortly after the first fork.
There should be some stones underneath it to get you up. Or let somebody pull your up.

The canyons are so deep that you will hardly notice the traffic.

How to get here:

Park close to mile 36.7 where the road crosses the wash.
There are multiple crossings, this one is the closest to Borrego Springs (West).
