An easy hike that ends close to fonts point, with a sand bowl a bit further south.
The hike starts rather dull, plant live 2 species, but once we enter point "Wash", it turns into a very interesting hike.
The return route heads east more steeply downhill until you end up in the mud wash below.
This is the only moderate part, but still pretty easy as it's mostly soft sand for good footage.
The preferred route is clockwise, but it will work both ways.
How to get here:
You need an AWD with some ground clearance, the road is easy to drive on.
Expect some sand down in the washes.
Take the exit on Hwy 78 close to mile 87, Butte pass road.
Turn right on the next crossing towards Butte pass.
Keep left at the exit Goat trail.
Keep right at the exit Hawk Canyon.
After about 3.5 mile, take the dirt road to the left in the wash. (West, San Felipe)
Keep right at the 3 way crossing (Borrego Mountain Wash).
After about 5.4 mile, you reach the Borrego Mountain Wash.
Drive another 300 yards and turn right into an unsigned wash road and park at the fork.
