Anza-Borrego Desert: Mountain Palm Springs Loop

length 4 mile - 2 hour (counter clockwise loop). Easy/moderate.
Elevation 770 - 1070 feet
Access Highway S2 Mile 47 exit Campground. On a good dirt road (all cars) along the campground to the trail head.

Head North in the wash to the North Grove that can be seen from the parking.
At North Grove keep on going, north/west, up a small rocky canyon.

After a short while you can see Mary's Grove.
Now head south/west over a small ridge towards a small unnamed grove.
Turn right in the wash (west) up to Surprise Grove.

Follow the canyon on the right side up to Palm Bowl Grove.
Return to Surprise Grove and look for a faint trail on the right, heading south/east.
The trail may not be marked but is still excellent.
Heading south to Torote bowl.
Now head north/east over a small sandy ridge and at the next signed crossing, head north towards the car.

At point "Trail Head Indian Gorge Trail" you find a trail up to Torote canyon a nice detour.

On this trail you find numerous Elephant trees mostly along the canyon walls.
