Anza-Borrego Desert: Alcoholic Pass Loop 3

Rating *****
Length 3.8 mile (return) - 2 Hour, 20 minutes (return trip). Moderate.
Elevation 920 - 1830 feet
Access Drive the road into coyote canyon, for about 2.6 mile. An AWD drive is recommended, but in most years a regular car can make it (check first).

The Alcoholic Pass is one of the few marked trails in the park. (The return trail IS NOT marked)

Except for the climb, it's an easy hike up to the pass.

This loop takes you to the pass and up another canyon saddle.
Expect some small boulders along the route.
Going down on the boulders and sometimes sandy washes, the wash goes down a bit steeper to the sandy wash below.
Hiking on the boulders, close to the stream is the best place to hike.

How to get here:

The road into coyote canyon is sandy, but most of the time you should be able to make it to the trail head in a car with some ground clearance.

Drive for about 2.6 mile on the dirt road.
