Anza-Borrego Desert: Glorietta Canyon loop 3

Rating *****
Length 3.7 mile (return) - 1 Hour, 50 minutes (return trip). Easy/Moderate.
Elevation 950 - 1650 feet
Access See below, most cars.

A scenic hike, close to town, with some bouldering.

You can see the canyon from afar, but you can't really tell which is the right one.
The terrain is sandy and it goes a bit uphill.
Watch out for the jumping cholla, keep your tweezers ready.

Once at the canyon entrance, you see boulders.
But it's not as hard as it looks, for a boulder canyon this one is easy.
Keep in the stream and don't try to climb too many boulders, there is mostly a way around them.
Anyway the small boulder part is relatively short and the way down is easy.

How to get here:

From Borrego Springs take the second dirt road after the bend (start counting beyond the road at mile 9), at the end of the dirt road, turn right again.
Park just before the road dips into the wash. (Park 3), the road ends at Park 2.

Up to 2013 you could park at Park 1, but as of 2014 the road is closed.

Alternatively you can park the car close to the bend (mile 9) and head cross country.

Suitable for all cars, most of the time.
