Anza-Borrego Desert: Mile 15 Pacific Crest Loop

Rating *****
Length 4.2 mile - 2 Hour, 30 minutes (the loop, anticlockwise). Easy/Moderate.
Elevation 2430 - 3150 feet
Access Park roadside along the highway at mile 15.

A nice canyon with a wide variety of flowers.

At mile 15 hike uphill, the main wash is a bit to the right.
Soon it's an easy sandy wash, follow the main canyon all the way.

This hike would be marked easy, if it wasn't for the catclaw.
Some parts of the canyon are narrow and you will encounter the nasty catclaw.

Sometimes you may think this is getting bad, the next moment you are in an easy sand wash again.

Once at the pacific crest trail turn left.

Follow the crest trail until you see the next sandy canyon below.
Leave the crest trail when you cross the canyon and the crest trail is heading for the other side of the mountain.

This canyon is wider and easier than the other one.
