Anza-Borrego Desert: Thimble - Short Wash Loop

Rating *****
Length 5.3 mile - 2 Hour, 20 minutes (round trip). Moderate.
Elevation 800 - 1100 feet
Access Most cars, exit signed Thimble Trail mile 31.9 and drive for 1.8 mile up a hill with a sign on the left. This is a good park road with some soft sand. 4x4 preferred

A hike in the Borrego Badlands, great canyons and views.
Hike some nice sand and mud hill canyon washes.
The hike follows a ridge and dips rather steep into a wash below (point Wash), some sliding down the mud hill.
This changed the rating from easy to moderate, the rest of the hike is easy.
We hiked just after the rain, somewhat slippery at times and it occasional sticks a bit to your shoes.
But after rain the colors are at their best.

This GPS trail is an indication only, conditions will change, a route we took may be impossible the next year.
It's not uncommon to get stuck in a too narrow wash, having to go back and try it somewhere else.
