Anza-Borrego Desert: Ant hill loop

Length 8.7 mile (return) - 4 Hour (return trip). Easy/Moderate.
Elevation 550 - 1060 feet
Access High clearance, watch out for deep sand.

A loop around Ant hill.
This hike follows washes, loops underneath Fonts point.
A small detour to a bowl with a nice view point.

The area is the true home of the Dune evening primrose, Oenothera deltoides subsp. deltoides, we encountered thousands on our hike.
Expect a lot of sand on the way back, making the hike a lot harder than it would be otherwise.
You may encounter motorized traffic on a busy day (try to avoid the weekends).

Warning:
Once in a while in the weekend they target practice in this area.

This is a GPS only hike.

How to get here:

Take the Borrego Spring rd, (Landfill).
Park at point "Park 1" if you don't have a high clearance car. And hike east along the fence.
Otherwise drive up to the end of the road and just before the do not enter sign (Landfill) turn right on a dirt road.
Almost immediately turn left 'Xing left1' and drive basically around the fenced landfill.
Turn left (east) following the fence of the landfill and left again 'Xing left2' (north) along the fence of the landfill.
Park at the start of the hike 'Park'.
A 4x4 is preferred as you may encounter loose sand.
