Anza-Borrego Desert: Nolina canyon south fork

Rating *****
Length 6.1 mile (return) - 3 Hour, 30 minutes (return trip). Moderate/Boulders.
Elevation 2020 - 3490 feet
Access 4x4 preferred. Exit on Hwy 78 mile 81 on the marked (pinyon) park (dirt) road

A hike up the south fork of the Nolina canyon.

Starts out easy but after the second fork, more and more big boulders will appear.
The two dry falls pose an obstacle, the second "Fall 2" can be best climbed at the left side, take some time to find the best route.
Beyond "Fall 2" the hike is almost easy again up to the saddle.

How to get there:

Exit on Hwy 78 mile 81 on the marked (pinyon) park road.

The road is pretty good for a park road.
Sand, small rocks and scrubs that come real close to your car, maybe too close.

After 1.6 mile turn right (South) at the Nolina junction (signed past the junction), drive up to the end (4.1 mile extra) and park.
Once on the Nolina 'road', expect more and bigger rocks and deeper sand.
