Anza-Borrego Desert: Smuggler Canyon Loop

This hikes explores the very rough area, north of the Smuggler canyon/wash.

At the pictographs parking follow the trail east.
Once over the saddle, look east, the rocky fork of Smuggler wash is the destination.
Leave the trail and head north/east and down the Smuggler wash, next head north up a rocky fork of Smuggler wash.
Parts of the drainage are filled with boulders and rocks, not a problem for experienced hikers.
At the saddle head south following the terrain.

Warning
Only suitable for hikers experienced in rough rocky terrain, with a lot of boulders.

How to get here:

On the S2 mile 22-23. Butterfield Stage Route, Blair Valley.
Take this well maintained dirt road up to the pictographs.
Except after the rain, this road is generally suitable for most cars.
