An area named after the California barrel cactus, probably the best variety of cacti in the Anza-Borrego desert.
This scenic hike is surprisingly easy, but hard to follow without a GPS.
Every time you think the wash ends, there it is again.
Expect a sandy wash with occasional rocky stretches.
At the point were the route loops continue as far as you like as the boulders will get more frequent and bigger.
If you continue the loop, the hike is more cross country and a notch more difficult and classified as moderate.
Hike counter clockwise.
