The hike starts on a closed dirt road and heads towards Garnet Peak.
Garnet Peak offers a great view of the Anza-Borrego Desert, right below is Storm Canyon, the green area Vallecito.
Head downhill and pick up the PCT heading North.
The PCT joins the S1 at a picnic area and follows an old dirt along with views on Cottonwood Canyon and Salt Creek.
Alternative routes contained in the GPX file:
A1: Starts at Penny Pines heads up to Garnet Peak with stunning views.
From Garnet Peak follow another route, following the S1 and turn left on the Pine Creek Rd.
Follow the asphalt on a infrequently used road, turning left uphill on an obscured and easy to miss trail uphill.
Turn left on the (unsigned) Noble Canyon Trail.
It takes about 3 hour to comple the loop hike.
A2: A partially off trail route, with a short stretches of denser vegetation.
It takes about 3 1/2 hour to comple the loop hike.
How to get here:
Drive the signed Kwaaymii Road and park at the end of the dead-end road at "Park 1".
"Park" is further south at the signed Garnet Peak trail head.
There should be no parking fee at the Garnet Peak trail head and at the Kwaaymii Point parking.
For A1 there is no parking fee at Penny Pines.
Penny Pines is busy in the weekends, but mostly empty on a weekday.
The route to Kwaaymii point is a car or Bike shuttle, by bike park at Kwaaymii point "Park 1" and ride mostly downhill towards point "Park".
A1 and A2 are loop routes, starting and ending at the same parking.
