Anza-Borrego Desert: PCT Chariot Mountain Loop

Rating *****
length 10.8 Mile - 4 hour 30 minutes (Round trip), Easy.
Elevation 3330 - 4270 feet
Access 78 exit Banner shop, high clearance 4x4.

A scenic hike along dirt roads and the PCT.
When hiked counter clockwise, turn left at the crossing and hike on the dirt road along a (dry) creek.
The dirt road is hardly ever used weekdays. Eventually the PCT joins from the right, now follow the PCT as it leaves the dirt road on the left.

The PCT runs partly around Chariot Mountain and meets a dirt road in Rodriguez canyon.
Now follow the dirt road (marked 106) towards the car.

Along the route there are many abandoned (gold) mines.

How to get there:

In Banner close to the Banner shop (mile 64.8) head east on a dirt road.
After a short while a gate with impressive locks, but the gate is actually always unlocked.
The road may be a bit rough, you need a high clearance car, probably with 4x4, to drive it.
At the first crossing to the left (like a triangle), turn left and park when possible.
