Anza-Borrego Desert: North Palm Wash Loop

Rating *****
length 6.5 mile (round trip) - 3 hour, 30 minutes (round trip). Moderate.
Elevation 290 - 700 feet
Access High Clearance 4x4 only, see below.

Exploring a fork just east of North Palm Wash.
The start is a short scramble up the wall of North Palm Wash.
Next follow the ridge north and head down rather steep into a fork of Palm Wash. It's a lot of sand making the descend that much easier.
The rest is an easy hike in the wash up to a fork. At this point explore the wash further south/east.

Head back and keep right in the fork.
At the end seek out the best way to get up the mesa.
Now head back along the ridge.

How to get here:
An high clearance 4x4 is essential.
Exit at the Calcite mine and turn right down the South Fork.
Turn left in the Palm Wash North Fork, this exit is very easy to miss.
Keep right at the next fork and park.
The easy way is to disregard the North Fork exit and park at point "Park 2".
