Anza-Borrego Desert: Pena Spring Hellhole Canyon

Rating *****
Length 4 mile (round trip) - 4 Hour (return trip). Moderate.
Elevation 3500 - 2360 feet
Access All cars, on HWY S22 (Montezuma Highway) between mile 9.0 and 9.5, turn at the sign Culp Valley Camp.

From the Pena Spring Parking head down into the canyon, this is a fork of Hellhole Canyon.
Walk easy down towards Pena spring and continue down passing Pena Spring.
Just before the huge boulders, go to the right in more flat terrain.

It takes some experience navigating the scrubs, rocks and boulders, but it's not too bad.
The last part into the canyon is more tricky as it's rather steep.

Explore Hellhole Canyon, along the creek the vegetation is rather dense and catclaw is a serious obstacle.
