From the parking, watch out for off road vehicles.
Crossing the 78, you enter the wilderness area.
Expect drifting dunes and washes.

The sand dunes are often surprisingly firm, otherwise loose sand.
Not recommended when high wind is predicted.

How to get here:
This stretch of the 78 is no parking anytime.
Along the 78 park at the Hugh T Osborne Lookout Parking (free, but for only 2 hours).
If you want to park longer, you need a permit.

Or you can start at the free parking "Park 2".
In Glamis, take the first dirt road left (north/east Ted Kipf Rd) before the railroad crossing.
At the wildlife watching sign turn right into a free parking area. The only free parking without a parking limit yet (2020).
