Eventually crossing the sand dunes once again towards the car.
Without a GPS it's easy to get lost out there and don't run out of water, it can be very hot.
The sand dunes are often surprisingly firm, otherwise loose sand.
Not recommended when high wind is predicted.
The terrain is best described by sand dunes running north and south, with more firm sand on the west side and denser drainages to the east.
Terrain is hilly with drainages, often ending in a deeper depression.
How to get here:
Park close to, but not at the Imperial Sand Dunes ranger station.
A permit is required to park.
Along the 78 you are not allowed to park within 30 feet of the road.
Even just outside the "do not park anytime", you still aren't allowed to park along the road and you need a permit
