Anza-Borrego Desert: Bow Willow - Mountain Palm Spring Loop

Rating *****
length 5.5 mile (the loop) - 4 hour (the loop). Moderate.
Elevation 720 - 1260 feet
Access At mile 48.2 turn to Bow Willow campground, on an excellent dirt road.

A very scenic hike in rocky terrain, over trails and cross country.

We take a somewhat maintained alternative trail to South West Grove.
Turn left (west) at "Xing SW Grove". Continue for an easy hike.
The trail ends abruptly at a sign for Torote Bowl.

From now on follow the terrain and navigate some larger boulders.
Over the top, a sandy canyon wash down to the Palm Bowl Grove.
Before the palm grove it gets steeper and you have to navigate some big boulders.

Once down the grove, follow the sandy wash up to another grove and pick up an almost impossible to find trail.
The trail is not maintained but still in good shape.

Once in the larger "Southwest Grove" follow the sandy wash and pick up the trail to Bow Willow.
This is one of the better marked trails, in very interesting terrain.
How to get there:

At mile 48.2 turn to Bow Willow campground, on an excellent dirt road.
After about 1.7 Mile, park at the end of the campground at the daytime parking, before the brown logs.
There is a daytime parking fee. ($10 in 2022)
