Anza-Borrego Desert: Oil Well Wash Loop

Rating *****
Length 7.2 mile - 3 Hour (round trip). Easy.
Elevation -140 - 40 feet
Access All cars

A loop along the sandy Oil Well Wash Road.
Most of the time there is enough space on the side of the road to walk on solid ground.

At the top of the loop we descend into a smaller canyon that should be off-limits to vehicles, but expect them anyway.

The densest and largest population of Eriogonum deserticola around the Anza Borrego Desert, which blooms at the end of the year, can be found in this loop.

Warning: This is an off-road area, expect vehicles at all times.
Cross-country driving is not officially allowed, but is done anyway.

How to get here:
Park near the pavement (78) at the start of Oil Well Wash Road (BLM 188).
