Anza-Borrego Desert: Coyote Mountain Loop

Rating ****
length 6 mile, 3 hour 15 minutes (loop). Moderate.
Elevation 530 - 1680 feet
Access Start at the S22 close to mile 26 at the road to the dry lake. (all cars)

A nice hike up the Coyote mountain range.

Some parts follow the old (closed) "road", other parts on well defined trails and some parts cross country.

At the peak (sign unreadable) you can go back the way you came or go further on a more difficult hike down a small boulder drainage.

Go downhill up to what looks like a crater.
Left of the "crater" a drainge/wash goes downhill. Follow that drainage/wash all the way down.
Some parts are easy, parts are full of boulders, but there is always a relatively easy way to go down.

Keep close to the mountain range on your right and hike back towards the car.
